~Toomey Officially Enters Race Against Specter~
Today Pat Toomey officially announced his primary challenge against incumbent Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA).
Along with the announcement came the launch of Toomey's campaign website. The campaign website urges supporters to "help Pat Toomey put an end to Arlen Specter’s long liberal career – let’s put a real conservative in the Senate."
In response to Toomey's announcement, Specter's campaign manager, Christopher Nicholas, said that "leading members of both Republican and Democratic parties agree on one thing ... that Senator Specter is the only Republican who can hold this seat for the Republican Party."
~Carnahan Tops $1 Million in First Quarter~
Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan announced that she raised just over $1 million in the first quarter for her 2010 Senate campaign. In contrast, her top Republican opponent, Roy Blunt, just announced that he raised $542,000 in the first quarter.
The most recent poll of the race shows Carnahan and Blunt neck-in-neck, at 47% to 44%, the difference within the poll's margin of error.
