There's not a lot to report so far beyond the fact that 14 polo horses from Venezuela died this afternoon prior to a polo match. In addition, 3 more horses are being treated.

I certainly don't want to speculate here, but my mother, who has loved horses all of her life, would be horrified to see this happen to such magnificent creatures. Perhaps it's because of her that this story touched me so.
I just have to ask the question who really is watching out for us? The Republican Party over their years in power has done a wonderful job of removing the government from one of it's primary roles, as a watch dog for the people.
In Florida we're dealing with report of dry wall imported from China that is cause significant problems and popping up in new home developments all over the state.
Nationally, they removed so many of the checks and balances that were in place on the banking, investment and insurance industry that we're now reaping the results that are showing up in our financial collapse.
And yet we had idiots gathering on April 15 complaining that the government was becoming too intruding on our everyday lives.
I say just the opposite is the problem; we need someone keeping an eye on the business community to insure that the chase for the almighty buck isn't putting the rest of us in some form of jeopardy.
There are times I'm proud to call myself a Democrat.
