Okay, so it hasn't even been 100 days yet, but here's mostly what I see on a daily basis from my sorry little perspective of being a cable and internet junkie.
Michelle Bachmann on TV saying that her supporters should be armed and dangerous to ward off a socialist takeover.
Glenn Beck having weeping meltdowns where he shows pictures of marching Nazis and saying "Their leader promised change too!"
Political shows inviting former criminals like Tom Delay onto their shows to blast away and then saying, "Thank you for your time, sir"
Giving blowhard hypocrites like Newt Gingrich and Dick Cheney the respect of elder statesmen.
Devoting whole weeks to "Did Obama bow to the Saudi King?" What do you think of that, Mr. Rove?
The suddenly aggressive mainstream media deciding that after 8 years of being the lapdogs for Bush-Cheney it's time to attack the guy who is trying to get the country out of the ditch. Love those angst-ridden "Gotcha" tries from Ed Henry.
And on the Presidential side, allowing everyone else to frame the daily arguments and talking points and being bogged down with false arguments and dichotomies.
Everything is just in janitor mode, from cleaning up the botched bailout mess to the torture memo mess to the Iraq mess to the Mideast "Peace Process" mess, to the auto industry and Wall Street mess. No pushback on the Israel lobby or the gun lobby.
I don't see bold initiatives. I don't see any urgency to crack the whip and say "We will use aggressive legistlative tactics to get our agenda through because we can't afford delay. If you don't like it, organize and win the next election."
It really feels passive to me.
