Yesterday I posted my first diary, but it faded into obscurity by mid-day. I see a great chance to make a difference, and I want to put some energy behind it before I let it die. I have been inspired over the past few days to try bring a little change to this world. After watching some of the coverage of the tax day protest last week, I was struck by this thought. Imagine if those protesters had put down those placards, and lifted up a few shovels and paint brushes and start to give back to America instead of screaming about it.
So I am going to try to get this idea out a couple times and hope that it catches fire. Why don't we stage our own completely organic grassroots campaign. But instead of coming out screaming and protesting. Let's organize a National Service day, that counters all those Teabaggers. Let's counter this talk of more protest on Independence day by organizing service events across the country. If something like this is already happening, great sign me up. Otherwise lets start the fire. Start posting all around the internet, and get our base fired up. America is founded on hard work and altruism. Lets show everyone what we can do.
If you think this is a good idea, post around. Tell other people. If you think it isn't let me know. Think for a moment if we can get 1/100 of the population to come out and perform a little service during the fourth of July. 3 million people around the county putting a little hard work in to make our communities cleaner, our streets safer, and our country greater.
