Senator Baucus has said that there is no way we are going to get a single payer health care system.
According to Physicians for a National Health Care (PNHP):
Montana Senator Max Baucus, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, has said that in writing his new healthcare legislation “everything is on the table” except single payer. One wonders if Senator Baucus has been reading his home state newspapers or just listening to the lobbyists for the private insurance industry.

Apparently, he's listening to the insurance and health care lobbyists instead of the American people. He thinks that lobbyists "want what is best for America", as evidenced in this video clip.

He needs to hear from us that single payer should be back on the table when devising a health care plan. At the very least, we need a public option for health care insurance within any no-fault scheme. We all know this is a human rights issue. It is also an economic issue in that it will help contain skyrocketing health care costs and will promote economic growth by taking the burden off small businesses.
Please contact Senator Baucus and let him know it is time to really rethink health care.
