The push for legalizing gay marriage in the New York State Senate has been heating up. The latest news on how state senators are expected to vote, and more...
I recently came across a great blog entry on The Albany Project which contains an exact breakdown of how each state senator in New York is expected to vote on the gay marriage bill.
Basically, the bill is sponsored by 19 Democrats, plus the Majority leader and one Republican will be supporting the bill, making 21 "Yes" votes. Almost every Republican is expected to vote no, and there are 5 or 6 Democrats expected to vote against the bill as well.
There are still around 15-16 votes still up in the air and there is a total of 62 state senators, meaning that at least 31 votes need to be cast for the bill. It looks like its going to be very tough to get the bill passed.
