T. Boon Pickens, the man, who just a few years ago, was one of the most hated men within our community. The public face of thee most effective campaign to befall a qualified Democratic Presidential candidate, John Kerry. Last night, he deserved what he got.

The first introduced, and the final laureate awarded, Mr. Pickens was bestowed with the American equivalent of a Nobel for business.
Now, normally, who would give a shit? But I have worked and helped to host every Franklin Institute Bower Awards Dinner since 1997, and the selection committee dinners for each. So when I say that I understand the politics behind the selection of TFI's laureates’, I guess, you just got to believe me.
Many here have questioned Mr. Pickens' motives as of late, but as I have learned, he understands. He is, as the award states, a business man. Over the years, I have gained an understanding relevant to the selection committee's process. And I have to say, he earned it.
Without exposing the political standings of the TFI Board, I can honestly say that the most conservative (true conservative) member did little more than make his introduction to the committee. The rest was all him.
It is my hope that those that read this will set aside any ill will, and extend congratulations and thank to him for what he has achieved since the 2008 campaign began -- single handedly removing renewable energy from partisan discourse.
