As POTUS and Commander in Chief, George W. Bush is more responsible than anybody else for any actions that took place under his watch. Bush was the front man for selling us on Iraq, Torture, FISA and every other violation of the Costitution ginned up during his Presidency.
George W. Bush is more guilty than any other war criminal in his administration because it was his administration.
And, as usual, the traditional media has failed to do their jobs, and now it seems as if they are trying to give Bush a pass on the war crimes and other disasters that took place during his watch.
WE CAN NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN!
It says Bush/Cheney, not Cheney and all the other cronies.
In recent weeks we have seen former VP Dick Cheney, his daughter and a horde of other complicit hacks take center stage to try to justify and rationalize their violations of The Bill of Rights and International Law.
The Bush Administration was not trying to clarify law, they were trying to redifine it. There is a HUGE difference between the two.
Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions of 1949, if followed, can provide a core "bill of rights" safety-net for detainees even if additional Geneva Convention provisions were not applied.
- - requires humane treatment of persons taking no active part in the hostilities, i.e., including detainees since removed from combat, without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, gender or wealth
- - prohibits violence to life and person, such as murder, mutilation, torture and cruel treatment
- - prohibits "outrages upon personal dignity" including "humiliating and degrading treatment"
- - requires that punitive sentences and executions (i.e., criminal punishments) be pronounced only by a "regularly constituted court" that "afford[s] all the judicial guarantees ... recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples"
- - prohibits hostage-taking
- - requires the wounded and sick to be cared for
- - indicates that "an impartial humanitarian body" like the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) may offer its services

I guess it is not a violation of the law if we re-define the law to say otherwise.
What total bullshit!
Read the text of Article 3. It is hard to re-define. It speaks in pretty plain language to me, but you should be the judge for yourself.
According to this logic, an apple is a fruit, and since a banana is a fruit too, an apple is a banana.
95% of the media gave Bush a pass for 8 years, and where did that get us? We can not allow them to give him another pass now.
How many references to the disaster Bush left us has the media made in the last 100 days? If you answered "Next to none" you would be correct.
To those who would say that this is about revenge and not justice, I would say otherwise. Maybe the Christian Conservatives on the right should read this
Romans 12:17-21
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil; consider what is good before all people. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people. 19 Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God’s wrath, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay," says the Lord. 20 Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head. 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Does this not say that the Christian thing to do would be to seek justice on earth, but leave vengance up to God? Does it not also say that we should show humanity and forgiveness to our enemies, as we would hope they would do so for us?
How someone could claim to be a devoutly religious person and yet support torture is beyond me.
(Note, I am not overtly religious. I just prefer using the words of those I disagree with against them. I have the utmost respect for people of faith as long as they have respect towards myself and others.)
Explain it anyway you like, the guilt lies with you, George W. Bush. You were in charge, you were the man, the Buck stopped with you, so you can't try and pass it now.
The arguement that Bush was too stupid does not fly with me, neither does the arguement that he was not directly involved. As the most powerful leader of the Executive branch in the history of this nation (re: Unitary Executive) what did Bush NOT have supreme power over?
Part of being in charge is being responsible. Bush should learn this lesson the hard way. Teh liberal media is trying to let Bush get away with this (as usual).
We shouldn't let him.
