Better late then never sometimes works but not this week it doesn’t. The good friend, the illegal, the one who lived with us for 5 years, the one who lives one hour outside Mexico City- the hard working- class act that I’ve begged editor and reporters, columnists or anybody with a pulse in the news industry to interview--- if you really want to understand why the dysfunctional (51st) state to the south, well functions on life support----that guy will be traveling north on Friday via the Mexico City International airport. He’ll probably pass the last contingency of press lemmings fanning out in search of a Mexican wearing a hospital mask.
I’ll be meeting him in Toronto. Hopefully Mexico’s and the U.S.’s loss will be Canada’s gain.
Nice going press. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.
I got the runaround, runaround, runaround, runaround
And I'll tell you why
....you had you fun around, fun around, fun around, fun around
with some other guy.....
I have to think about getting ready to head north tomorrow, and I have to work this evening, so I’ll just copy some of my previous diaries in order to fill in the story for the benefit of the , I’m guessing the 100 or so readers in the Kos who are looking in . I’ve written so god dammed much I can do that now.
And before I leave for the Canadian border tomorrow, I definitely should interrupt another 25-30 people on the streets of South Jersey for more signatures as I continue humping away at the 800 total I’ll need to qualify for a ballot position this November in the race for Governor against, no joke, John Corzine.
Just one reporter traveling to Mexico with me and interviewing this incredible guy, back home for the last year and a half but now in his final 48 hour countdown, could have saved me this election madness and embarrassment. I’m not complaining. Who better to bring up the issue of drivers licenses and motor vehicle insurance for the "undocumenteds" than me? And since the wife has such poor health (although she looks strong as a bull) I might as well be an advocate filling that other election issue vacuum; mandatory health insurance for all New Jersey residents (Kos readers might take offense with my ideas how to fund it though, but that’s for another day.)
I’ve got the runaround, runaround,runaround,runaround,
ain’t you sorry kid,
the way I spun around, spun around, spun around, spee zee spun around,
from the things you did,
how can I take it lightly you’re so cruelly cruel,
gee I think of jumping nightly into the cruelly, cruel sea
So when you’re done around, done around, done around, done around, as you’ve done before,
don’t you dare and come around, come around, come around, come around my frrrrrrrrroooooooooooont door.
Dear Matt Lauer

Nothing wrong seeing you doing an interview with Wal-Mart’s new CEO Mike Duke at a Philadelphia store this morning on Today, however I was in several Wal-Marts in Mexico last year, far away from the tourists, and there’s a heck of a more interesting story down there where the lines, depending on the Wal-Mart, are 10-15 deep and 20 across...
...I have pictures. What I saw happening in these small towns as it related to say, the Wal-Mart stock price per share (it came in above expectations), or mega giants effect on the local economy, was what I thought would be the hook to get the media interested in talking to me after I came home. So very simple I thought. I ‘d contact the elite media and we could discuss the other aspects of our troubled relationship with Mexico as well, i.e., illegal immigration to the U.S., corruption all over Mexico at every conceivable level and the impossibility of the average Mexican to make a decent living as a result ( and the reason they run here .....and the reason we must finish the fence.) .......
Sheriff Joe Arpaio (Boo hiss) and the PBS show NOW

.. Kossacks are invited to read another private e-mail to my friends in the snob media. I’m always hoping for an exception and for that special someone in a position of importance to respond back. Dateline Phoenix, Arizona. ...
Enjoyed your broadcast last night and Maria Hinojosa is a tiger. She reminds me of Mike Wallace .....
Would it hurt anyone to contact me? Or is the media's interest only in murder and mayhem at the border- and duly elected right wing sheriffs?.... P.S. Next month the one friend flies into a certain Canadian city and it’s not so that he can enjoy spring time in the northern hemisphere if you know what I mean.
Subject Mexico. Another Bite at the Apple
Gary's diary
(Who cares about them? So I’ll add an environmental twist tonight.) My Mexican sojourn, spread out over several episodes in the Kos, is not being greeted with any enthusiasm at all, judging by the lack of comments. I’m averaging about three or four feedbacks per diary, and I’ve done four stories with Mexico as a tag. Is it my writing, my breath, and, or the subject, the black sheep neighbor to the south, that’s making for the sparse reviews? Is the Kos just for showcasing great prose or for gossip about nasty Republicans?
A shame because what if, after numerous visits there, and years of experience listening and learning about crooked Mexico from my former Mexican house guests, I actually discovered what’s missing in our immigration debate?
Maybe more John Brown and less delicacy is called for. Even with two web sites; maybe I’ve been too obscure up till now, so now it’s time to burn the armory so to speak.
Do I need to go back further? I can, but the writing is not too good I’ve been told, and the further back we go the wilder it gets
I crave feedback. I introduce Israel into my Hispanic immigration debate?
Gary's dairy
...Forget my writing abilities; I say we really need to get pro-active on this issue. I need a reporter, or he (Beto) needs a job outside of Mexico. Does anybody know anybody who lives in Canada, (it’s easy to get a visa), and would like the services of the hardest working, most intelligent, honest, single (unmarried so not tied down, male citizen from the most corrupt country north of, and possibly including, Guatemala? If you do contact me and hopefully all will be spared update’s number 2,3,4,5,6,7,8......30,31.
And I did promise an insane comment and suggestion about the troubles in Israel. That’s how you build readership and jumpstart this freaky diary. Isn’t it?
I ended another diary last week; 08 Stick a Fork in Me , with the thread, "Why don’t Israeli’s sell 80% of their land back to these maniacs, keep 20% for their own fanatics, including Jerusalem, and move to Mexico and fix the infrastructure? Just a fantasy, but what the hell is going to happen there eventually? Up mine sideways!"
I’d like to expand on that, please. Mossad can clean out the cartel infiltrators in the Felipe Calderon cabinet, the Jewish Defense Forces can conquer the actual cartels near the border, and Air Mexico can inaugurate a new service to Palm Beach, Florida.
Only someone Jewish and with my history in the Hispanic community could say something so ironic (truthful?) and ridiculous, and not be accused of being anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist etc, etc.
Last minute update. What do I come across as I’m about to post this blog? Yet another article suggesting things are getting even more out of control in Mexico. Front page of today’s New York Times. Your janitor reads. (I'm a janitor, Gary 4/28/09)
(the married) Jackie Cain and Roy Kral in duet singing the last refrain of Andre and Dory Previn’s song...
I got the runaround, runaround, runaround, runaround
boy you take the cake...........
hold it, hold it, a one and a two...
so when there’s none around, none around, none around, none around,
and you find your free,
all you got to do is come around, come around, come around, come around
hooooooooooooooooome to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
That was too much fun to quit. Encore! Encore! (especially since this song below I could find on lyrics. dot com, as opposed to standing in front of old vinyl with a pencil and paper)
