Mr. President you can rest easy as you have completed your probationary period with excellence. We the people give you high marks for your performance thus far, under these most trying circumstances. Taking over the reigns of a nation teetering on bankruptcy with its number one manufacturing industry (automobile) crumbling before us, we realize this was not easy.
With joblessness increasing by the hundreds of thousands monthly, home foreclosures continuing unabated and a consistently contracting GDP, we know these burdens are difficult to work with. We the people fully understand the $1.3 trillion budget deficit you inherited along with an incompetent and corrupt congress that was responsible for the same. We also know you have had to negotiate tirelessly with the scumbags and scoundrels of Wall Street just to keep the American financial system from drowning in red ink.
Mr. President, we fully understand that you have had to contend with rebuilding the country’s reputation by making the rounds nation by nation, in order to make apologies and amends for your predecessor’s arrogance and ignorance. Unfortunately, it was none other than you who had to swallow America’s pride and admit the wrongs and mistakes of those former leaders too small to do it for themselves. Nevertheless, being the bigger man, you did these things and did them with your head held high with dignity.
Mr. President we the people are acutely aware of the loathsome scum you have had to deal with from the other side of the political spectrum. We know the hardcore Right have clearly meant to do nothing but pray for your failure even at the peril of the nation’s future. Your administration have not only succeeded in exposing your opposition for being backward thinkers with a shrinking reach, but you got your budget to invest in America passed, while bringing Senator Arlen Specter over to your camp in the process. This in and of itself was a major achievement.
Mr. President, with a quiet cool and calm demeanor you have also shown you can work with vastly diverse mindsets while maintaining complete control and a sound perspective. These rare character traits will serve you well in the days ahead as you enter the more difficult stages of your presidency. When you were called upon to confront the recent Somali pirate threat to an American vessel, the outcome was three pirates neutralized with surgical precision, another taken into custody and most importantly no loss of American lives. But moving forward, your decision making skills will come under increased scrutiny when things get nastier in Afghanistan/Pakistan and yes, Iraq as well.
However, all things being considered we think you have done a remarkable job and are delighted to rate your personal grade to date as an A-. In our opinion, the only reason you failed to achieve a grade of A, was due to a slow, sluggish and perceived indecisiveness in the handling of the ever so hot issue of torture. Keep in mind, we were very mindful of the former vice president’s efforts to usurp and or undermine your presidency to save his own fat and heartless ass.
Additionally, we have separated your personal performance from that of you administration to give you the benefit of any doubts. But future evaluations will combine your performance with your crew, as you will be measured by the performance of people you have selected to fill critical positions. Since many of those positions are not fully ramped up, we will refrain from giving them anything but an incomplete.
But fear not, as Secretary of Defense Gates, Secretary of State Clinton, Treasury Secretary Geithner and others seems to be covering their bases without issue. That being said, Secretary of Homeland Security Napolitano and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, like you will unfairly put to a difficult test too soon due to the Swine Flu pandemic that’s sweeping the nation. They will be called upon to keep the country safe, healthy and well informed. They will have to find a way to deliver healthcare to all who need it under the most trying of conditions, especially when so many Americans have no medial coverage at all.
But once again, we think you can rest assured that Secretary Sebelius and Secretary Napolitano will not let you down, because we estimate them as very smart, strong and capable women with great communication skills. If it is true that a leader is only as good as those who he or she have surrounded themselves with, then your next performance review should be as positive as this one.
