Apologies - this will not be much of a diary. A friend of mine is curious as to why Rhode Island lags its neighbors in terms of progress on marriage rights.
My guess is that the Catholic church might be stronger there than in other parts of New England, or that maybe the state isn't as socially liberal as its libertarian neighbors. But all this is hypothesis - I haven't been in the Ocean State in 15 years. I thought I'd tap the best pool of expertise available - that of my fellow Kos folk - and see what insights we have to offer.
