This is a partisan site, I get that. But I think many of us agree that torture is not (or should not be) a partisan issue.
To all the Republicans who say that the Democratic leadership was briefed and is complicit in the torture program there is only one rational answer:
If the facts show that this is the case, then we must Prosecute Pelosi for War Crimes.
I doubt that there will be enough culpability to go that wide and I'm hoping the Democratic leadership didn't sell the country out as thoroughly as that. But if they did, we should at least know about it, accuse them and if necessary punish them all.
If she knew and failed to speak out, she is complicit and culpable. So assign an independent prosecutor, find all the facts and answer the question:
Who knew What and When. Submit the results to a Grand Jury and let the chips fall where they may. If Pelosi's name is on the indictment together with Bush, Cheney, Yoo, Bybee, Addington, Rumsfeld, Gonzales, Muckasey then so be it. If Reid was in on it, add his name too. Add Colin Powell while you're at it, if the facts show that he knew and did nothing.
If the facts show that the Dalai Lama was in on it, send him to jail too.
It doesn't matter who is involved or what letter comes after their name, D or R.
Time to apply some blind justice. If Pelosi knew then she has to account for her culpability too.
If Obama continues the program in secret or knows about it going on, he should be going to jail too. No one gets a free pass on torture, not in this century, in this country and under this constitution
Justice is blind.
UPDATE If you didn't get the point: I think Pelosi is unlikely to be anywhere near as guilty or even guilty at all. The point is: I don't care and we shouldn't decide what to prosecute based on who we prosecute. That's up to a Grand Jury. The title is inflamatory on purpose. You need to take the partisan out of the war crimes investigation
