Welcome, my malted barley brethren to Friday Night Beer Blogging. We gather here to discuss the issues of the day, but mostly we'll talk about beer.
So the Lawrence O thing... He has been so awesome tonight filling in for Big Ed, that I am still in awe. I think he deserves the 10PM timeslot on MSNBC. I like Ed, but O'Donnell has proven himself to be an unflappable supporter of us 'real' Americans. You know, the one's who believe in justice and compassion. This clip is what I'm talking about:
Okay, grab a bottle opener and follow me below the fold.
This weekly series [usually posted Friday nights around 7PM CST, sorry about last week BTW] started because I stayed in to watch Battlestar Galactica, and I needed to pass some time while waiting for it to start. Now, since I certainly need an excuse to keep up the series, I blog here to occupy myself whilst waiting for Dollhouse. Eliza might be the only girl I need on Friday night... Well her and themis.
FNBB, has five static questions that we'd like you to answer in your first post, to get the conversation started (well I guess the beer does that, but answer them anyway damnit). These are followed (most of the time) by an additional five questions that change every week regarding other crap. Okay, 6-10 coming soon... Ah screw it, let's just have poll and be done with it.
- What are you drinking, and if it's prune juice, try a fiber suppliment instead? It tastes way less gross.
- Did you tell anyone you had plans, just so you could hang out on DKos?
- How early did you skip out of work this afternoon?
- Are you going to be fixated on your computer monitor all weekend (as I'm sure I will be), or are you going to do anything interesting? If so, what is it?
- What's your reason for beer blogging tonight?
h/t to a consistant Friday post on Rich Meyer's Capitol Fax Blog, who's title was so excellent, I borrowed it, but I think I'm still good with fair use, because I added night.
Our Theme Song:
Drink well and drink hearty my friends, for tonight we dine at Denny's.
I'll ask again with my TJ, but please write MSNBC and tell them what you think about giving Lawrence O'Donnell a show. I did, and this is what I wrote:
I have watched Lawrence O'Donnell appear on several of your programs as a pundit. He is always able to lay out a cogent argument in which almost anyone can see merit. I watched him fill in for Ed Schultz tonight, and I was blown away.
I love Big Ed. I listen to his radio program every afternoon, and I am thrilled you gave him the six o'clock slot. I urge you to keep up the good work, and give Lawrence the ten o'clock hour.
The demographics of this country are changing. We in the under 30 crowd, are heavily liberal. Even though I'm not a network executive, I know which way the wind is blowing. MSNBC has begun to woo the younger segment of Americans by airing programs that align with our political views. You could cement our support by placing a fearless liberal, who is unafraid to debate republicans (and win everytime mind you) in the late time slot, when we are most likely to watch.
In conclusion, fight the good fight, and win over the younger crowd, because we have many years ahead of us to watch your network. The old gaurd does not.
