It seems that Air America is at it again. Not to be happy they got rid of Young Turks, Sam Seder, Randi Rhodes, Rachel Maddow, Thom Hartmann and now Jon Elliott. It was really the only central place to get liberal Radio. Now who do they have normally on during the week?
The sad fact is that Liberal radio is needed, Stephanie Miller does very well with her show, but even she isn't on that many radio stations and yes there is a big problem with radio stations not doing the right things when it comes to giving liberal Radio a chance. I live in North Carolina, and we went blue this year, I live in Charlotte NC which is also blue, (ok more purple than blue but still) yet there isn't one, NOT one liberal radio show in this area. The closes that we have is John Hancock, and he wants to be a rock and roll DJ more than a talk DJ.
The truth of the Matter however is liberal radio shoots itself in the foot too. They, the right, don't change around the shows. Rush is on the same time EVERY day, the same is true for all the others on the right. Air America has moved and removed so much that in less than two years the people I listed were all their daily talk are gone, and now, I have Montel. I like him he is ok, but I keep getting the feeling he is selling me his book more than he is talking about the issues of the day. The 12-3 how sad is that. I mean really they have a new host each week. The man that was on a few weeks ago, I really enjoyed but I can get that podcast FOR FREE. They don't have anything for me anymore save State of Belief.
It seems to be that as a business plan I think they aren't listening the the fans of liberal talk radio and are listening the the big business sponsors a bit too much, which big business doesn't want liberal talk to succeed, they want them to fail. Why do you ask? Because Liberal and Big Business are natural foes. BB wants only a small elite ruling class, and Liberal radio asks for more and more people to get involved. I feel they, the companies that own theses shows, need to talk to the listeners and fight for radio stations. Also, give them help to make good game plans to sell liberal talk radio. Don't just sell them the rights to the shows, and then without giving any help.
so in the time of Obama why is liberal radio losing so much more ground than when we were fighting the Bush White House? Why are we losing our voices on the air when we need it the most? is it big business? is it ourselves? or something else? I wish I had some kind of answers
