Barabara Ann Radnofsky, former D candidate for U.S. Senator (2006, against Kay Bee "perjury is such a trivial thing" Hutchison), has announced she is running for Texas Attorney General in 2010. Take THAT, Greg Abbott!
This might have some interesting secondary or tertiary implications for Governor and other statewide offices in Texas next year. Stay tuned, and read on.
Here is her announcement in full (an e-mail I received), since I could not find a link yet to a site:
Barbara Ann Radnofsky announced her candidacy for Texas Attorney General at the Harris County "Texas Trailblazer's Lunch". And, she has hit the ground running to be your next Attorney General. Your early support will be key and we hope you'll get involved with Barbara Ann's campaign through this newsletter, Facebook and Twitter. This race is important and winnable.
"The Attorney General is the people’s lawyer. But what happens when the people's lawyer gives bad legal advice, abuses the office for political gain? The office of Attorney General harms our everyday lives: the amount of our electric bills, the taxes we pay, and the safety of our children. It becomes a war on the innocent as the bad guys go free.
Our state-wide elected officials aren't fighting for the people of Texas; they're fighting for themselves. The AG needs the real world anchors of life lessons and good judgment. After 30 years of law practice, I understand that when you are fighting for people you should never give up; no government should deprive its citizens of their rights, nor tilt the playing field."

Texans are ready to vote Democratic. A recent Gallup poll surveyed thousands of Texans and found that more Texas voters now identify themselves as Democrats than Republicans (43.3% Democrat vs. 41% Republican). With your support, this is winnable. We hope you’ll consider a donation to help get us started. Every dollar is going to make a difference.
Since filing we’ve been hard at work getting the campaign started. Barbara Ann’s first fundraising events will be in Austin on May 19 with 9 state representatives (Reps. Dr. Alma Allen, Harold Dutton, Yvonne Gonzalez Toureilles, Terri Hodge, Armando Martinez, Dora Olivo, Aaron Peña, Senfronia Thompson, and Sylvester Turner) serving as honorary co-chairs and Houston on May 21. We hope you'll become a BAR Raiser (great supporters who are helping raise money) to support us during these early days of the campaign. Please contact Katie Floyd at katie.floyd@radnofsky.com for more details about Barbara Ann's upcoming events.
Please donate today on Act Blue, create your own fundraising page so you can be an official BAR Raiser, and spread the word to your friends.

Barbara Ann Radnofsky ("BAR") is one of the smartest people I have come across in Texas. I attended her candidacy announcement in Dallas in 2006 and was immediately impressed. She traveled ALL across Texas (not to all 254 Texas counties, as David Van Os, AG candidate that year did), but got no DSCC support, and didn't seem so well known outside of Houston. It was interesting, and she stated at the time that she deliberately made her announcement in Dallas (before lunch) and Fort Worth (after lunch on the same day) in order to broaden her acquaintance with the Texas voters, and to demonstrate she was looking for support across the state.
She even wrote a book about her experience, "The Dancer is Dead"
She is an arbitrator and mediator, and has been a legal educator.

Please (re-)welcome a wonderful candidate, and a rising Democratic star in Texas!
