Is it time to start calling our depression a depression?
The banks have been bailed out. The banksters all got bonuses from our tax dollars and the bank's investors did not lose their collective asses. For our generosity we were given reduced credit lines, higher interest rates and extraordinary fees. This 'investment' in the banks was going to increase lending. Didn't happen. Legislation to protect us from credit card company greed was killed, not by republicans, but by bribed democrats. Not only that, but the banksters bribed the democrats with money that WE gave them!
The auto industry got billions and used it for something that did not include saving thousands of jobs. Now the last vestiges of American production is being flushed down the drain and America will be manufacturing nothing but hamburgers and debt. Part of the GM recovery will entail moving production offshore, further decimating US jobs.
The latest recipients of public funds are going to be the insurance companies. You know, people like Farmers and State Farm who made a science of cheating Katrina victims. Now they want our help while their management owns private islands.
Mr. President, when is the goddamned middle class of this country going to see some help? At least with Bush we knew we were going to get pissed on.
Did you ever see one of those movies where the president died and the evil chief of staff, (Rahm Emanuel?), brought in a ringer who looked like the president to do evil? Perhaps we should demand a DNA test on our new president.
