Flip-flopping on military tribunals? Reversing himself on the release of torture photos? Backtracking on the 18 month timeline to get us out of Iraq? It's not that easy is it Barack? I bet you wish McCain/Palin had to make all these tough calls instead of you.
See, what the pundits know for sure is that Obama now faces the realities of governing. No more of this pie in the sky hope business. No more dreamy bipartisanship goals. Because if there's one thing Faux Gnus talking heads are intimately acquainted with, it's, um, reality.
OK, more about this foolishness below the fold.
Yes, running a government the size and scope of America's, with its inherent diversity of opinions and interests, requires compromises that sometimes negate the lofty rhetoric of campaigns. True enough.
And Obama is, in fact, facing reality. But let's be honest and accurate, shall we Faux? I know it's hard for you, but give it a whirl.
Reality: The Cheney/Bush terms were disastrous. A catastrophe of a trainwreck of a hurricane of a Presidency.
Reality: The former President blew gigantic economic opportunities time and time again on the political heroin of unjustified privatized war, and the economic cocaine of perpetual tax cuts.
Reality: Counterinsurgencies are long term wars. The former President was told this by experts in his own White House. He ignored them.
Reality: Iraq had nothing to do with al-Qaeda ... until you invaded it.
Reality: Bush made us less safe.
Reality: Osama is still out there, isn't he?
Reality: Torture creates terrorists, destroys our international reputation and is painful and embarassing to prosecute.
Reality: Concentration camps are difficult to dismantle, and take time, legal expertise and political risk.
Reality: We're fucking broke.
Reality: Bush/Cheney did NOTHING to address climate change.
Reality: Short of drawing a "Road Map to Peace" for the Middle East, in crayon on a cocktail napkin, the outgoing administration set middle east peace prospects back decades.
Reality: The ever shrinking political minority called the Republican Party, represented by the likes of Bachman, Shadegg, Inhofe and of course, Limbaugh, is obstructionist at best, and destructive at worst. They are concerned not with solving problems, but with their own political survival and celebrity.
Reality: Ordinary average Americans are preoccupied with surviving the economic carnage left by the outgoing adminstration, and are not as involved in shutting down the wingnuts as perhaps they should be.
Reality: Democrats won the last two elections overwhelmingly, and the President is supported by 2/3 of the public.
Reality: The newfound gaping piehole of a pundit Dick Cheney is not an elected member of government and what's more - almost no one likes him.
Reality: Obama is likeable. This frustrates you to no end.
Reality: The Republican Party is facing an inevitable philosophical civil war that is likely to relegate them to the fringe minority for decades.
Reality: As much as you hate to admit it, Obama still has 7 years and 8 months left as your President.
God, Faux Gnus, that's a lot to take, isn't it? No wonder you hang around with Glenn Beck.
