George Will wrote another absurd, factually-challenged column today in Newsweek.
Does [Transportation Secretary Roy LaHood] think 0.01 percent of Americans will ever regularly bike to work?
His absurd claim was very well covered in Daily Kos at George Will's continued struggles with "facts":
But this claim is just plain incorrect, ridiculous, unsupported by fact, and par for the course for George Will.
So Congressman Earl Blumanauer, representing the 3rd District in Portland Oregon, where the bicycle commute rate is closer to 8.0 %, has challenged George Will to a showdown debate.

Well, Congressman Earl Blumenauer has a retort, via Twitter. First, this:
In Newsweek:
It’s LaHood that gets it. George Will doesn’t. It’s about "choices" not behavior modification.
And then, four minutes later:
In Portland the P word is Progress. There’s one way to find out, Mr. Will, come to Portland and we’ll debate – what you write and what you see.
And, one minute later:
And bring your bowtie, your neckwear choice may be one area we may actually agree.
This will be the "Battle of the Bowties" if Will accepts.
Is George Will "man" enough to defend his claims?
Or will he stay sequestered in his Beltway Bastion?
You be the judge.
