Watching ESPN2's Friday Night Fights tonight, I was treated to strong performances by Cuban defectors Erislandy Lara and Guillermo Rigondeaux, who made his pro debut.
Both are exciting prospects with Olympic experience. Both left Cuba illegally, searching for a better life. They know the United States of America is the greatest country God gave man. They left their families to come here to find freedom and opportunity.
So why do we can't we normalize our relationship with the country as whole? They pose no threat to us.
Cubans want our goods and the opportunity to achieve the American dream. We want their boxers, their baseball players, their cigars, and I'm sure we'd love to vacation on their beautiful beaches.
President Obama's moves early regarding Cuba on have been a positive, but it's about time we normalized our relationship.
