I was amazed and disturbed to see the majority of you believe that global climate change is due in part to long-term planetary changes. This was from the poll today in Meteor Blades' Green Diary.
(Buzzer sound) Wrong!
Sorry, folks. There is no evidence of solar flares, volcanic eruptions or other factors heating up our planet. It's us, plain and simple.
Kindly go here for the smackdown.
For a complete education on global warming, read the entire Grist link here.
Geesus H. Christ folks, if you don't get it, then how the hell can we expect the hard of thinking to? I can't believe I even have to point people to the fucking FACTS.
Especially when you consider the upward swing in temps perfectly parallels the upward swing in C02 emissions since the dawn of the industrial age.
Now take my poll!
UPDATED
It appears there's some confusion over the Green Diary poll question wording itself. It appears that could've been the main cause of the confusion.
However, just to clarify again:
The poll asked: What is your view about the causes of global warming?
Answering: "Mostly human activities with some long-term planetary changes" is dangerously misleading at best and dead wrong at worst.
If anything, normal planetary cycles would put us in a cooling trend. And planetary changes don't occur over 150 years. They take milleniums generally.
Natural cycles is a line that many in the global denying business would love to push. It doesn't hold water. Global climate change has NOTHING to do with "planetary changes," whatever you think those might be.
