Before we get to what I believe in these are the things that shaped my beliefs. I spent 28 years in the AF. I have 3 brothers and 5 sisters but my family is not Catholic or Mormon. When asked how many guns do I own? I reply, "a few, not as many as I would like". I would rather read a book than watch TV. I was a Boy Scout but think that Scouting has lost its way. I plan on graduating college next spring with an IS&T degree. I put up signs for McGovern for President. My first vote was for Jimmy Carter for President. I have never voted for a Republican for President.
I believe that if someone gives you too much change you should give it back.
I believe that the American Flag is a mighty symbol. That said I spent 28 years of my life protecting your right to do whatever you want to it.
I believe that if the founding Fathers were alive today and you told them that they could walk into a store and buy and take home on the same day a rifle that can kill someone 1500 yards their collective response would be WTF! In 79 I got to shoot an AK-47 during a Warsaw Pact weapons familiarization. When I was finished my first thought was I have to get me one of these. I don’t have one and if anybody tells you that they need one for home defense, whip out the BS flag. Assault rifle are designed to kill people from 50 to 300 yards away. If you want a weapon for home defense get you a shotgun and load it with 00 buckshot.
I believe TORTURE lead to the deaths of Americans Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines and that the person(s) responsible should be brought to justice. I also think it is BS that information gained from TORTURE was useful.
I believe that before 9/11 most people pretended the military didn’t exist and now those same people tell me "thank you for your service". A good example of this is TV baseball games sing God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch instead of Take me out to the ball game.
I believe that abortion shouldn’t be necessary but because I’m a man I don’t get a vote. Abortion is a choice between a woman, her Dr., and her faith.
I believe that if someone tells you that life begins at conception you should tell them that estimates are that 80% of fertilized eggs don’t implant in the uterine wall. That if life begins at conception, then GOD performs more abortions than all Doctors combined.
I believe that two or more consenting adults that want to commit themselves should be able to get married (not shared by my wife). Marriage is declaring your commitment to your partners before your community and your faith.
I believe the perfect number of parents to raise a family is 3. Two income earners and one stay at home to make sure the children have somebody to read to them when they’re sick, watch over them when they are on-line.
I believe that men who hit women are cowards. My father a WWII veteran told me and my little brother when we were young, "you don’t hit girls and I won’t kill you." He wasn’t serious but the meaning was clear.
I believe that America is that shining beacon on the hill. The light is tarnished because of Bush/Cheney preemptive strike.
I believe that we can’t blame the SC for the 2000 election result. We need to blame the democratic commissioners in Palm Beach County Fl and the butterfly ballot.
I believe that the retired AF pharmacist that shot and killed a robber in Oklahoma City is guilty of murder. Graphic Video First there are two women in the store and if the robber had been a threat he never would have left the store. Second when he walked back into the store he walked past the robber on the floor to get his other gun. This placed his back to the robber on the floor. He then walked back and shot the victim 5 times in the stomach. Third according to the AP the pharmacist was an AF Lt Col who fought in the first Gulf War. In the AF you get trained on the Law of Armed Conflict. Just before you deploy to a war zone you get another briefing from a JAG on the LOAC, near the top of the list is you don’t shoot enemies that don’t have the means to resist. The pharmacist glanced at the robber before he left the store I think to assess the threat because you don’t leave a threat behind you. Then as he walked by the robber when he came back into the store he put his gun in his non shooting hand. I don’t know about the pharmacist but if I think somebody is a threat I don’t put my gun in my non shooting hand!
These are a few of my beliefs. Please share yours.
