His latest article praises Obama for his speech in Cairo influencing the Lebanese election in what Friedman says is a positive direction. Is he right? He's been wrong so many times before . . .
http://www.nytimes.com/...
In his article (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/10/opinion/10friedman.html) he says that Obama really spoke to the pluralistic, democratic values of the Lebanese. But he accused previous Lebanese governements of "drag Lebanon into war with Israel", so his bias is such that I can't trust it.
He also says that the winners in Lebanon are dedicated to "pluralism, modern education, a modern economy and a progressive outlook." Sounds good, but by "modern economy" does he just mean neoliberalism that will hurt the majority of Lebanese?
I'm asking because I'm no expert on Lebanon. But I'm hoping someone here can give me an intelligent verification or rebuttal of Friedman's article, since he is so patently untrustworthy.
