I heard Neal Boortz read this letter from retired Proctor and Gamble executive Lou Pritchett on his radio show yesterday (6-9). I did a search and its all over the right wing sites. Snopes.com has it posted with confirmation from Pritchett that he did indeed write it. One of the main issues the right wing commentators all seem outraged about is that the letter was sent to The New York Times, which didn't acknowledge or publish it. I don't know how many times I've written letters to the editor which weren't published or acknowledged, but somehow it never occurred to me that there was some giant conspiracy involved.
Most of the letter is typical right wing bilge, but one thing really jumped out at me. Pritchett writes that Obama is the 13th President he has lived under, and is the only one who scares him. Think about that. Pritchett was born when FDR was President and has lived through the Cold War, Vietnam, Watergate,Iran, Iraq, and interminable other scandals and catastrophes, and he has never been scared until now. Let's do a little poll and see which one of Pritchett's 13 Presidents scares us the most.
