Okay, I'm writing this diary about the DOMA DOJ situation because I'm tired of repeating myself.
I do not think people are MAD at Obama for doing his job and upholding his oath. I believe the frustration is coming from looking at everything Obama hasn't done since he's been in office. I think we all understand that Rome wasn't built in a day and change takes time, but I think those of us who are not satisfied with his movement, or lack thereof, on GLBT issues are tired of the inaction. No one is saying he needs to focus all of his energy on repealing DADT and DOMA. I think people would just feel better about it if there were some actual ACTION in favor of equal rights for all instead of simply WORDS stating that he supports civil unions and the right for gays to visit each other in the hospital and serve in the military.
To say that people want him to stop following the law or doing his job lawfully and ethically is wrong. We just want to see him do SOMETHING. He's done SOMETHING on seemingly every issue BUT GLBT equal rights. This lack of action is making people increasingly frustrated, especially when they campaigned, donated, volunteered, voted, and prayed (if they are into that) just like everyone else.
Patience is all well and good, but when you aren't seeing any PROGRESS you run out of patience, even with President Obama. So people should continue to voice their disagreements and their displeasure with him on these issues.
The people on this site know every little thing he does on policy (he can barely sneeze without someone commenting about it, literally), so if we aren't seeing him do anything but talk the talk, chances are he's not really walking the walk.
So again, the issue is not with the DOJ doing its job (even if we don't agree with the arguments its making or the position its taking), it's about President Obama's own lack of action on issues that are very important to people who are and aren't directly impacted by them.
Anywhoo, that's my 2 cents.
