Just called Dianne Feinstein's office to express my support for a significant public option as part of the Health Care Reforms. Before registering my oppinion with the staffer who answered the phone, I asked about Senator Feinstein's position on the public option. I was told that the Democratic Senator from California has still not made up her mind on the public option. In fact, I was told that Dianne Feinstein is still waiting to see "how the bill progresses" before she makes a decision one way or the other.
"Why won't she come out in support the public option?" I asked.
"Because she doesn't want to make any sweeping statements before she sees the bill in its current form," responded the well-intentioned staffer. I went on to explain that I was dissappointed in the Senator's wait-and-see approach, that I expected her to be more of a leader on this issue, and that I was watching her statements and actions on health care very carefully.
I'm sorry, Senator Feinstein, but leaders don't sit on the fence. Fixing healthcare in America isn't a wait-and-see proposition. Healthcare is an all-hands-on-deck, put-up-or-shutup, get-off-the-fence issue.
Won't you help me to push Dianne Feinstein off the fence? If you're a California constituent, please call her office today @(202) 224-3841 and respectfully request that Senator Fienstein support a Public Option. Tell her this is no time to wait-and-see. This is the time for action and leadership!
