NYTimes David Brooks today:
There is the liberal way, in which the government takes over the health care system and decides who gets what. And then there is the conservative way, in which cost-conscious consumers make choices in the context of a competitive marketplace.
This is the big lie, that we don't now have faceless bureaucrats denying care. When you hear this lie, speak up!
Write letters to the editor, sign on to blogs other than this one, newspaper commentaries, personal conversations! This lie will be the new Harry and Louise.
The answer is: With single payer, the doctors make the decisions, the government pays with taxes from everyone, since everyone is covered.
The savings come from removing the care deniers from the process. Use the term "care deniers." It has great pejorative connotations.
