Or has the White House worked harder to get a supplemental War Funding bill passed then the Stimulus, EFCA and Bankruptcy Cram Down combined? And all to get money for the IMF which will go to bail out European Banks.
So they have a war supplemental out there. It should be an easy pass. One of the few things the Republicans can be guaranteed to support. Knowing that bipartisanship is a farce and that Harry Reid couldn't whip eggs, they slam IMF funding into the supplemental. Ooops. Big surprise, hatred of bailouts trumps war with the Republicans. So they start trying to whip the Democratic members into line, you know the ones who have vowed never to vote for funding without a withdrawal timeline.
According to Firedoglake, Rahm has even promised to get the DCCC to go easy on vulnerable Republicans to get votes for the supplemental.
Rahm cuts deals?
If the loss would be an embarrassment, stip out IMF funding. Fight it another day. But that isn't the point is it?
What a surprise that a team that still listens to Lawrence Summers with baited breath, decides the thing that is important enough to send Rahm Emmanuel out to twist arms is a bank bailout.
WHERE THE HELL WAS THIS INVOLVEMENT WITH CRAMDOWN? WITH EFCA?
And why are they wasting time with this garbage when real health reform is being sent to the dumpster in order to give a great big present to the insurance industry? The President can make nice speeches, we can call and write until we are blue in the face, but making this happen was always going to be a battle. I resent like hell that they are wasting energy on IMF funding.
I'm sorry, but in terms of real importance to the White House, the average American is once again being told you don't matter. Not for real financial help, not for real stimulus, not for real labor help, and now not for health care. You want help, be a bank, a big one. You don't even have to be American if you are a big bank.
