Dear Kossacks:
Round 1 of the DKos Chess Tournament is nearing completion. The deadline for playing in first-round matches is Saturday, June 20. If you have not scheduled a match with your first round opponent, please do so ASAP! If there are scheduling conflicts or other problems, let me know and I will try to work something out.
The match-ups for Round 2 of the tournament will be released in my diary and via e-mail on the evening of Sunday, June 21. You will then have until Sunday, June 28 to schedule and complete your match with your opponent.
In fact, here's a proposed schedule for the rest of the tourney:
Round 2: June 21-28
Round 3: June 28-July 5.
Round 4: July 5-12.
Round 5: July 12-19.
Round 6: July 19-26.
Round 7: July 26-August 2.
Round 8: August 2-9.
Championship Match: August 10, Monday night (the Monday before Netroots Nation '09).
No first-round match-up analysis right now, but have some Modest Mouse to pass the time.
MUSIC: "Fire It Up" by Modest Mouse

You can observe the games on Chess.com by opening the Live Chess module (under the Play tab at the top of the main page) and finding the user of your choice. On FICS, you will need to type "observe [INSERT USER'S NAME HERE]" into the command console to watch the game of the user you're looking for. On Chess Cube, you will need to add the user you're looking for as a friend, and then click on that user's profile and observe the game he/she is playing. On Yahoo! Games, you will need to know which room/lounge the user is playing in -- and once you know, you can just enter it and sit at their table.

Several of these users are matched up with opponents who have been e-mailing them, but have not been getting a response. If you do not share with me your match information, I have no way of knowing if there are problems with schedule conflicts or unresponsive Kossacks.
Please check your e-mail and schedule your match ASAP. I can switch match-ups if there are problems. Otherwise, I will rule the match-ups with these users' opponents as forfeits, and may have to remove players from the tournament as necessary.
