On Saturday, the theocratic thugs set loose. They brought their guns, their clubs and their chemicals to the streets in an effort to force the youth of Iran to STFU. And the kids have just responded responded with five simple words:
"Is that all you've got?"
According to the New York Times, they're coming back to the streets today at 5pm for another rally.
There was no sign on the streets Sunday morning of the heavy security forces from the night before, but there were reports that protestors planned to demonstrate again later in the day, beginning at about 5 p.m., giving both sides time to regroup, or reconsider.
The government doesn't get it. They're not afraid. The curtain has been lifted and the Wizard - in this case the Supreme Leader - has been revealed for the petty little man that he is. His mysticism is nothing without bullets and batons to support it. His divine word is nothing but the heel of a boot. But doesn't he understand that a boot, a baton or a gun is material, it's earthly. And while these things can maim and kill, they can be fought. They can be resisted. The kids know that now. They also now understand that freedom is not something handed down like a piece of candy from the local priest, it's a gift to man from God (or nature, whichever you choose to believe) and they are going to keep coming back until they get it. So tomorrow again they will march, they will fight and probably bleed. But with every police action, the "Supreme One" becomes a little smaller and both God and thousands of years of Persian history looms larger.
5 pm. Be there, motherfuckers.
