It's not how MUCH a Public Option will cost - but how LITTLE!
It is estimated the US will spend at least $2.5 Trillion on health care this year.
Health care costs are expected to rise to $4.1 Trillion a year by 2016. See this National Coalition on Health Care Report.
That's PER YEAR!. And our fainthearted Senators are all crying doom and gloom over $100 - $160 Billion per year?
Add it up.
Assume there's only 5% inflation in medical costs over the next 10 years. That's about half the rate over the last 10 years. If nothing else changes, we will spend about $40 Trillion on health care from 2010 through 2019.
Say that again - Insurance, Drug and Health care corporations will rake in $40 TRILLION over the next 10 years and we can't spare 2 - 4 percent to cover the 15% of the population that's uninsured? That's sick math!
And the "poor" Insurance companies can't stand up to a little competition from a mere $1 Trillion government plan?
The country is being played for suckers again. And the Democratic party - and the nation - will suffer if they are too chicken-shit to stand up to the wingnuts and deliver on their promises.
