I'm back and I'm mad as hell. But I am not at all surprised. People who read my blog before I went off to fight global warming probably are not that shocked at Obama's or Congress' response to the pressure that Big Pharma and the insurance industry have applied.
But we have our own pressure to apply. So I hope any Arizonians will help me push our representatives into representing today.
So 76% of Americans want a public option to health care reform and of course Congress and the White House can not find the support to pass such a bill. How odd that a "democracy" consisting of elected "representatives" has such a difficult time doing what their constituents want. Perhaps that is because we have allowed our democracy (one person, one vote) to slide into a plutocracy (one dollar, one vote). Now we are stuck having to mount a tremendous effort to overcome anyone with more dollars, like the insurance industry, than we have.
But here is what really chaffs my buttocks today. I actually gave money to Ann Kirkpatrick's cause during the campaign to oust Rick Renzi. Actually conversed with her about my patients' needs! And now I see her name on Fire Dog Lake's Campaign Silo as "Leaning No" against any Health Care Bill that does not have a strong public option! What do you mean "Leaning"? Why hasn't she said definitively that she would not support a whole sale sell out of the American people?
Apparently she needs some help deciding. So District #1 of Arizona (that would be Northern Arizona) here is her phone number and addresses for your convenience:

Give her a call and help her overcome her indecision. Apparently Southern AZ is already on the record.
If you do not happen to be a part of the great state of Arizona, I understand. Find out what your Congress critter is thinking at Supplemental Whip Count and find their phone number at this interactive website.
Just because your rep is a Republican, don't hesitate to call.
