I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign)... I come from the business side," he said. "If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he'd be gone.
Yes, Mark. So if it was right for Bill Clinton, why did you go back to work on Friday? After all, you were front and center when Congress went after the President for the same thing!
A huge diary appeared a couple days ago taking Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow to task. For lampooning the eminently lampoonable Mark Sanford. I probably shouldn't link to this well-intentioned nonsense but for context, here it is.
Sanford deserves all the abuse he gets, and more.
Did the gays make him do it? If they hadn't been threatening the Holy Sanctity of Marriage Between A Man And a Woman, Gov. Sanford wouldn't have been compelled to publicly exhibit his mid-life crisis at taxpayers' expense?
There is a clear cause and effect relationship here!
People who are demanding apologies from Mr. Olbermann and Ms. Maddow on this site for bluntly attacking hypocrites like Mr. Sanford really don't get it. They also don't speak for me or for anywhere near everyone on this site.
I want brutal attacks and mockery on these people. They've had things their way for far too long, and if they get a long and nasty enough dose of it, maybe - just maybe - some of them will start to get it, and start behaving like they accept the fact that legitimate opposition exists to their point of view. Christian compassion only works when you apply it to everyone, not just to those dogs with whom you make ideological poo-poo.
People like Mark Sanford and their crowd have simply wrecked this country. Right now, they are not legitimate partners in our government. So far as I'm concerned, mockery and abuse isn't enough. But until some of these stupid macho punks start getting haled before a jury for their crimes (Yes, I'm looking at you, Dick Cheney!) they need to be taught a serious lesson in humility.
So flame on, Keith and Rachel.
