I've received several URGENT EMERGENCY appeals from the DSCC for donations in the past two weeks. I called the DSCC today to give them the most valuable information that they can use to keep the progressive money flowing in.
In their letter, they say they know why I might hesitate to give, offering these examples:
"You think it's too early."
"You think we can't lose. "
"Change is hard. "
I'm sorry, but none of those reasons are remotely close.
"You think it's too early."
No, I think it is ALMOST too late.
"You think we can't lose. "
No, I think it doesn't seem to matter that we already won.
"Change is hard. "
Hard for whom? It certainly does seem to be hard for the Democratic Senators who seem willing to cave in to Republican demands with a whimper.
What are they waiting for? Seventy seats? They will never get close if they don't stand up for the people.
I called the DSCC and gave them this message:
" I will not give ANY money to the DSCC because the Dem Senators are being weak on true health care reform. If Democratic Senators won't stand up for a true and strong public option, I'll never give another nickel."
" Even my own senator, Amy Klobuchar, refuses to take a stand, saying she will wait and see what comes out of the committees. "
I know the DSCC doesn't have any votes, but they do have a phone line that gets answered, unlike most Senators. ( Amy Klobuchars voice mailbox was full the last two times I called )
I encourage others to call the DSCC and tell them that we will wait to see if our Senators can deliver on the change we voted for before we give any more money.
The Audacity of Hope is a great line, but "Hoping" never accomplished a damn thing.
We need to see some Fight. No more Kum-bay-ya with the Republicans and the corporate shills in both parties.
A real person answered and she seemed somewhat surprised that I wanted to voice an opinion, but she listened and said she would pass my message along.
