Just as Ricardo Martinez was putting the finishing touches on the mix for his feature documentary about the border fence, The Wall, the Senate voted Wednesday to approve more miles of fencing and fast track its construction.
"It's obvious that we need to have a dialogue about this now, more than ever," says Martinez. "We haven't fully finished the first fence mandated by congress, how are we going to pay for the second? Even former DHS Secretary Chertoff didn't advocate a pedestrian fence from San Diego to Brownsville. Shouldn't policy be based on law-enforcements assessment?"
The Film Premiers This Friday at Cine El Rey Theatre in McAllen at 8P and July 18th at Guadalupe Theatre in San Antonio! Check thewalldocumentary.com
Border Documentary Finished Same Day As More Fencing is Proposed.
Just as Ricardo Martinez was putting the finishing touches on the mix for his feature documentary about the border fence,The Wall, the Senate voted Wednesday to approve more miles of fencing and fast track its construction.
Ricardo Martinez filmed extensively with law-enforcement along the border and watched as several municipalities were underfunded and lacked the manpower. Capturing many perspectives, he traveled deep into Mexico to interview immigrants on their way to cross around and over the fence in Arizona. He even managed to spend some time with the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps and capture some 'contraversial' statements about Hispanics.
The new film opens this Friday at McAllen's Cine El Rey Theatre at 8PM and Saturday at 8 PM in San Antonio at the Guadalupe Theatre. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door starting at 6 PM.
