I'm appealing to the general knowledge pool available here at DKos. Sorry this isn't a political diary, and is too short.
I was just listening to NPR's Market Place show when they interviewed Craig Nelson, author of Rocket Men. He was discussing the potential economic benefit of returning manned space flight to the moon. He specifically referred to mining Helium 3 for fusion reaction for a future energy source, and almost as an aside, he said there was great potential for solar energy on the moon, since there were "areas of the moon constantly exposed to sunlight".
Is there some perturbation of the Earth's orbit, and the moon's orbit and rotation that actually does result in constant exposure to sunlight? Or did this guy get distracted while being interviewed, and allow the misunderstood phrase "Dark Side of the Moon" go through his head to allow something poorly thought out escape from his butt?
Looking at the biography, it looks like this guy is a writer with no real science background.
