Ripley, WV --- Mother: Gay Son Suffered Brutal Harassment at Camp:
A mother from Jackson County, W.Va., says her teenage son was brutally harassed at summer 4-H camp because he's gay.
---
The catch is that police can not do much because there is no law that protects White's 15-year-old son from what happened. West Virginia does not include sexual orientation in its hate crimes law.
The family said what happened at camp isn't their first experience with being ridiculed because their teenage son is gay. Doing things like going to the grocery store have become enormous tasks for White and her son because the taunting seems unending.
Charleston, WV --- 'Sexual orientation' removed from Kanawha schools policy:
Kanawha County school board members voted unanimously Thursday evening to remove the words "sexual orientation" from proposed revisions to a cultural diversity policy, which pleased at least one opponent of the controversial policy.
I guess I shouldn't be reminding you just how virulent the attacks on the LGBT community have become over the last six months.
I guess I shouldn't be reminding you that anti-gay attacks are on the rise (even in place like NYC.
I guess I shouldn't be reminding you that even Democratic legislators across this country have ignored their responsibility to the gay community.
I guess I shouldn't remind you that whackjobs like Sally Kern have said that gays caused the current economic crisis.
I guess I should remind you that kids like Carl Walker take their own lives after enduring brutal harassment in their public schools.
But since you didn't read my diary from Monday or Tuesday, should I expect you to actually take action in response?

You need to deal with your kids and teach them early that being gay is wrong and make them hate being gay.
