I grabbed my digital recorder as soon as I realized what this call was tonight. Doubt it has much significance, but I submit it to the wisdom of crowds.
The caller identified himself at the beginning of the recording as "Gary Marks" of the "Judicial Confirmation Network." My recording begins about five seconds into the script. As you'll hear, the pitch targets Bob Corker (R-Tenn.). It's not clear to me why he would be any more or less squishy on the nomination than Lamar Alexander, but maybe they only target one senator per call.
As to the target demographics: I'm a homeowner in a mostly affluent (except me) area. I have been registered in Nashville and voted regularly since 1981. I'm 45. I answered various questions during the pitch in the manner that seemed most likely to keep it going; I disavow any supposed political opinions expressed on the audio.
I learned my lesson about editing audio of push-polls when I taped one that made a national stir in 2006 (during Harold Ford Jr's race against Bob Corker). So you get raw audio here -- most of the call, followed by my *69 check of the number that called.
For what it's worth.
