A fellow blogger of mine at Everyday Citizen just write a piece about the KSGOP ties to C Street's The Fellowship cult. The interesting thing is the denials from Rep. Todd Tiahrt who continues to say that he's not affiliated.
Local media picked up the story here with a video report out of Wichita.
"After several blogs here and crossposted to DailyKos that have gained a lot of traction, local media in Kansas is starting to take a closer look at the right wing religious cult behind C Street's The Fellowship. . .
"With denials from Rep. Todd Tiahrt and admissions from Sen. Sam Brownback and Rep. Jerry Moran, one has to ask when these elected officials plan on telling us the truth about their participation in the financials, the payoff of Ensign's mistress, the do-it-yourself exorcism, and the slew of other cover-ups that Capitol Hill Elected Officials have orchestrated.
If there isn't anything wrong with C Street and it is indeed just a regular old prayer group, then why is there no transparency about what is happening and going on?"
The Wichita report says of Rep. Tiahrt
"Sharlet recently went on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show to talk about Tiahrt's involvement with The Family. His appearance was spurred by statements Tiahrt made earlier in the week about tax funded abortions.
Tiahrt is against using government money to fund abortions.
On the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, Tiahrt asked whether President Barack Obama and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' mothers would've sought abortions if it was publicly funded . . .
When Sharlet heard this, he recalled a time he saw Tiahrt in C Street talking with The Family's leader, Doug Coe. Sharlet describes Tiahrt in his book as a "short, shot glass of a man, two parts flawless hair and one part teeth."
Sharlet says it was his first impression of Tiahrt and acknowledges the height comment may've been off. Sharlet says he's positive it was Tiahrt and wrote down the conversation as soon as he left the room."
This despite the fact that Tiahrt denies being involved beside being in a few prayer services. Via the video above Tiahrt denies being a member of C Street at all. Who isn't telling the truth here? My money is on Tiahrt.
