You already know about Gov. Howard Dean's town hall meeting on health care reform, and presumably are psyched that Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak will be taking your questions in a special Pennsylvania Leadership Forum at Netroots Nation. You've seen our agenda with its fantastic mix of panels and training sessions focusing both on the policy changes America needs and the activism it takes to make change happen.
We've got more.
Because alongside reforming health care, there's no bigger issue for all Americans than getting our economy back in shape. As our leaders push to solve our country's financial crisis, how can we maintain confidence in the economy while protecting the interests of the middle class? What are some of the pivotal policy decisions that are being made now, and what will a "21st century economy" look like? And how can we as progressives help for progressive change in areas such as health care and workers' rights?
We're bringing in some folks who can help chart an answer to these questions from an array of perspectives for what I hope will be a provocative, informative exchange.
So on Saturday, August 15, join us for a lunchtime plenary session on the economy featuring New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine, Change to Win Chair Anna Burger and economist Dean Baker, for a discussion about the economy and how it affects working Americans.
Building a 21st Century Economy, scheduled for Saturday at noon, will give you and your fellow attendees an opportunity to hear from leaders who are on the front lines of some of these policy battles -- from a Democratic Governor leading his state during these economic times to labor leader fighting on the front lines for working Americans to a progressive economist who saw the recession coming and has been charting a course to lead our economy to a better future.
The panel will be moderated by Kevin Drum of Mother Jones.
