For your information,the latest CBS/NY Times poll is hot off the presses.  I will summarize some of the interesting numbers.  Some have asked for the link... Here it is...

This poll was taken from July 24-28 2009.

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as President?

Approve: 58% Disapprove: 30%  This is slightly up from the July 9-12 poll.

Do you feel things in this country are generally going in the right direction or do you feel things have pretty seriously gotten off the wrong track?

Right Track: 42% Wrong Track: 49%. This is better than the July 9-12 poll which was 35 to 57

Do you approve of the way Barack Obama is handling foreign policy?

Approve: 54% Disapprove: 24%.  This is slightly improve from 7/9-12 when it was 53% to 30%.

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling the economy?

Approve: 51% Disapprove: 41%

Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling health care?

Approve: 46% Disapprove: 38%

In general, is your opinion of the Democrats in Congress favorable or not favorable?

Favorable: 47% Not Favorable: 42%

In general, is your opinion of the Republicans in Congress favorable or not favorable?

Favorable: 28% Not Favorable: 61%  The Republicans are still hated.

In his first few months in office, do you think Barack Obama has been trying to accomplish too much, trying to accomplish too little, or trying to accomplish about the right amount?

Too Much: 48%  Too Little: 5%  About Right: 45%

Do you think the economy is getting better, getting worse, or staying about the same?

Better: 32%  Worse: 22%  Same: 45% -- Over the past couple of polls the number of people who say the economy is improving is steadily rising.

Do you think Barack Obama has the same priorities for the country as you have, or doesn't he?

Yes: 62%  No: 31%

Who do you think is mostly to blame for the current state of the nation's economy?

Bush Administration: 30%
Obama Administration: 4%
Wall Street and Financial Institutions: 29%
Congress: 12%
Someone else: 7%
All of the above: 6%

Regardless of how you usually vote, who do you think is more likely to make the right decisions about the nation's economy -- Barack Obama or the Republicans in Congress?

Obama: 56%
Republicans in Congress: 25%

So far, do you think the federal government's stimulus package has made the economy better, worse, or has it had no impact on the economy so far?

Better: 25%
Worse: 13%
No Impact: 57%

Regardless of how you usually vote, who do you think has better ideas aobut reforming the health care system -- Barack Obama or the Republicans in Congress:

Obama: 55%
Republicans in Congress: 26%

Which comes closest to your view?  The US needs to fix its healthcare system now as part of fixing the overall economy. or Because of the state of the economy, the U.S. cannot afford to fix its healthcare system right now.

Need to fix now -- 52%
Can't afford to fix now -- 44%
 I think that this will give the White House some solace.

There is a lot more to the poll.  These are just a few of the interesting points.
