One of the multitudinous annual summer events here in the Chicago area is a charity fundraiser run by the civic association in Chinatown. They rent a couple of dragon boats, get the city police to cordon off a chunk of the river, and get teams from all around the area to race, mainly for bragging rights.
That was last Saturday, the weather was beautiful, and I had a free morning. So...
Practice and proper team coordination is essential. A boat, some paddles, and water would also be of use.
And a funny hat. Funny hats are key.

Air guitar is common, but I do believe this is the first time I've ever seen air paddling.
Keeping the beat helps keep the paddlers in sync. All the best teams use a leg bone from their vanquished enemy for maximum drumming effectiveness.
