If most American's supported the Iraq War, why are we listening to whether or not we should have government run Health Care?
There are just some areas that we should not leave to the people to judge, elect, vote on. Can I remind everyone of Prop 8 setting back the civil rights movement a decade? Like sufferage or segregation. If we did not have government mandates on ending segregation, then we would still have a divided country. If we did not allow women to vote, we would still have a divided country. If we do not have available Health Care for all, then we will have a divided country. A country of Haves and Have-Nots. Some who will have the ability to live, and others who will not.
Democracy to the people! But in some areas, our people are just very uneducated. I hate saying that, but it is true. Look at your neighbor. Look at the polls! Look at television!! That is our fault for putting Education on the back burner to useless wars (i.e., war on drugs) and pork (government pork, not ham).
I am not advocating facism or the public's voice (1st Amendment)be supressed, if it was heard we may have avoided the Iraq War. But I am saying, public support or disapproval should not be the yeay or nay to government activity. Let's not suppress our ability to grow as a community by uninformed opinions. Once again, education is key.
