This morning, however, Democracy Now had a couple of guests confirm that what we know to be true is in fact true: BACON TASTES GOOD BUT IS BAD FOR YOU. They also explained why the reasons behind those truths are deep, irresistible, and a little conspiratorial.

Dr. Kessler is currently Dean of the UCSF Medical School and formerly Dean of Yale Medical School, so decide for yourself if he's qualified to state that BACON IS BAD FOR YOU. Kessler discussed the biological and evolutionary bases for our food addictions, and the food industry’s role as pusher to our inner comfort-food junkie.
Arun Gupta of The Indypendent discussed "Bacon as a Weapon of Mass Destruction," in essence an exposé that not only discusses the proliferation of bacon in both fast food and haut cuisine, but the pork factory farming industry that drives the bacon market.
So there it is. We eat too much fat, too much sugar, and too much salt. Our brains are designed to want that. The food industry knows that, and they market to that primitive appetite.
