I’ve heard a week of broadcasts about "town halls" being taken over by the lunatic right wing and can only conclude the Democrats ability to screw up an opportunity is mind-boggling. How can a party with a Democratic President and majorities in both houses screw up health care? We’ve been waiting for some sort of national health care program for more than 60 years and what do these dopes do, they sit on it for another month and allow the lunatic fringe to take control of the debate.
Do you think the lunatic fringe cares that their behavior is un-American? Do you think the lunatic fringe cares that their behavior is reminiscent of early Nazi party rallies? Do you think the lunatic fringe cares about good faith negotiation and honest debate? I am consistently amazed at the "good naturedness" of the Democratic Party. When will they learn? They were elected to make change and instead we get more of the same.
I’ve had it with the lack of cohesiveness Democrats have on the most basic of issues. How, in God’s green earth, did they let this continue until after the August recess? At some point – hopefully – Democrats will understand honest debate was never on the menu on any issue. They are debating with themselves, which is really a form of oral and mental masturbation.
Do they really think Republicans are behaving in good faith? Perhaps the best thing to do for each member of Congress is to visit an Emergency Room of a local hospital in a large city on a Friday afternoon and just watch the uninsured parade in, or got to a Bankruptcy court and see how many of the filings are related to medical bills. Maybe, just maybe, they'd get a better understanding of what they are fighting for.
Lastly, it’s about time for Obama and his staff to stop the bipartisan talk and simply advance their agenda. Stop pushing people along and instead lead. The right isn’t negotiating, they are just delaying. We’ve seen it with the economic recovery plans and we’ve now seen it with health care. At some point they had better realize that trying to appear reasonable doesn’t really serve anyone’s interests, it just makes them look naïve.
