Dear President Obama,
I am disappointed. I was a supporter from day one. I donated early and often to your campaign. I worked day and night as an Obama organizing fellow to make sure you got elected. Most of all, I voted for you.
I am disappointed that you did a deal with the drug companies to tie the government's hands and not negotiate the lowest possible drug prices. I am disappointed that your Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, thinks I am "f***ing stupid" for believing that all democrats should support a robust public option or face electoral consequences.
I am disappointed that very little money has gone to ordinary Americans who are struggling to keep their homes, while I hear that a CitiGroup employee thinks he is worth over 100 million dollars in bonuses paid by the American taxpayer.
I am disappointed that time and time again, concessions are made to Republicans with no promise of votes in return. I am disappointed that bipartisanship seems more important to you than saving money and helping ordinary Americans.
I am disappointed that you have not acted to end the homophobia of Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
I am disappointed that you do not think that war crimes are something that should be aggressively prosecuted.
I am disappointed that real action on global climate change is nowhere in sight.
I am disappointed that you have not made the Employee Free Choice Act a priority.
I am disappointed that as a person elected to bring change to Washington, you have not made campaign finance reform a central issue. Because I am smarter than your Chief of Staff thinks. I get that we have legalized bribery. I am disappointed that you have not attacked the perfectly legal, but unbelievably corrupt practices of the United States Congress.
I hope that you will not stay the course of indecisive and ineffectual leadership that you have displayed so far on domestic policy. I still believe that you can pass a health care bill with a robust public that delivers for the American people. I still believe that you can be a great president, but what I've seen so far is lackluster. I hope that you change course and fight for change we can believe in.
Sincerely,
Progressive American Patriot
P.S. Just sent this off to the White House. If you would like to send them a letter, you can do so here.
