In a diary yesterday Epic, EPIC Anti-HC Reform FAIL, MLDB pointed out an Investors' Business Daily editorial on health care reform that claimed that physicist Stephen Hawking "wouldn't have a chance in the UK" because "the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless." IBD apparently was unaware that Hawking was born and continues to live in the UK.
IBD must have been bombarded with interesting messages pointing out the error. Mine said, "Regarding Dr. Hawking, point taken. The NHS is obviously killing him very slowly." Anyway, today, more than a week after they first posted the editorial, IBD changed it.
Well, they kinda corrected the editorial, removing the Hawking reference. But their editor's note is kinda funny.
Editor's Note: This version corrects the original editorial which implied that physicist Stephen Hawking, a professor at the University of Cambridge, did not live in the UK.
They don't mention that the editorial also said Hawking would be dead if he did live in the UK.
Idiots.
