Two great candidates will be joining us at the Candidates Kiosk (exhibit hall) today at Netroots Nation.
1:30-2:30, come meet Dok Harris, who's running for mayor of host-city Pittsburgh as a progressive independent (and our very special guest - below the fold).
At 4, we'll be joined by Lois Herr, running in PA-16 against the truly odious Joe Pitts.
More below the fold.
Dok Harris is running a progressive race for mayor of Pittsburgh against both the Republican and the machine Democratic incumbent. The Republican (and maybe the incumbent) are furiously trying to get him off the ballot this November, because as mayor he would move Pittsburgh in a far more progressive direction. http://harrisforpittsburgh.com/
Dok will be with us at the Candidate Kiosk in the Exhibit Hall from 1:30-2:30.
But lest I bury the lead, Dok will be joined by his dad, Steeler legend Franco Harris (who is as a god in these parts. Franco is a strong progressive, but is probably most well-known for this. He'll be happy to talk politics, football and his son's campaign, and take a picture with you.
Then at 4:00, come meet Lois Herr, a wonderful woman running in PA-16 against the truly odious Joe Pitts. Lois is a strong progressive and a pro-choice counter to Pitts, who has taken an (uncharacteristic) leadership role against health care reform, largely on the basis of Federal funding for abortion.
Pitts is also a central member of the infamous C Street house cabal.
If you're not in town, or can't come by, you can show Lois some love at http://herr2010.com.
Both candidates will also be at the candidates pub quiz at 6:30 at Mullen's Bar and Grill, 200 Federal St. Dok has put together a strong team to compete in the quiz. (Well, except that I'm on it too.)
Hope to see you today.
