Dear Mike, I just heard that you said you would "never vote for a bill to kill old people, period." Yeah, no kidding, but the last time I checked, no one is asking you to vote to kill old people. We are asking where you stand when it comes to 45 million uninsured Americans; the 18,000 Americans who die each year from lack of coverage; the numerous state and local governments who pay for the care of the uninsured; or the million, yes, million of taxpayers who file bankruptcy each year because of unpaid medical bills. Do you stand with them, Mike, or do you stand with the lunatic, stupid, irrational, greedy, racist, fringe? It’s that simple, Mike.
My hope, Mike, is that you will side with logic over orchestrated anger, the rational over the irrational, and the informed over the imbecilic but I have my doubts given your most recent comment. Now, I get that you represent a district with a disproportionate number of rubes who rely on Fox News as their news source and you have to placate them to get their vote in the next election – evidently your intellectual honesty has a price – but I’d suggest you do what is right and take your chances.
Lastly, if you really do believe that old people are to be killed under the new health bill, then I’d hope you’d take the trouble to read the bill. It is an important bill and before you do any more talking take some time to learn what you are talking about. I know that doesn’t happen with many politicians but I’d hope you would set your standards a bit higher.
