Do you think the obama adminstration has, intentionally or not, given the left something to be passionate and LOUD about? If there is something we've learned this summer, heck, since Obama was inaugurated, is that the loudest voices are the ones given airtime and 24/7 coverage. If they weren't, what birthers or dearthers or Rush Limbaugh think would have been covered by the msm the same way people who believe Elvis is still alive have been covered. Ahem...
When this healthcare debate started, the people that showed up in town halls, that were invited by pundits, that were given unfiltered and constant attention were the ones that were AGAINST any type of reform..those sent by Glenn and Palin. We from the left, yes we laughed and debunked their crazy theories but we were never given something to fight FOR!!!
Obama started to shift the momentum and we had to get behind him but somehow lackluster support if we go by those headlines that said that the healthcare debate failed to ignite the Obama campaign machine...Until now.
Did we really just need some vague and mixed signals from the WH that they might, might! Be open to dropping the public option to finally have the left waking up??
Jon stewart, eugene robinson, Rachel, ettc... Dailykos, supporters at town hall... We just needed that "thing" to have the msm pay attention and realize that those angry shouters were a small minority. But who could have blamed the media since we didn't make our voices heard? Obama asked us to help him and we tried but it looks like finally this is doing the trick.
Mind you, the white house denies that they've dropped the public option. But they have not said that they won't proceed without it. So, we're fired up!
Question is, do you think they did it intentionally? Or am I putting too much stock on Obama and his team and really think he's a jedi??
Anywho, it worked.
