Yesterday, BarbMD wrote about UnitedHealth Group backing the teabaggers. She noted that UnitedHeath has declined to comment.
Smart move, for them.
Yesterday in our Tallahassee paper, Froma Harrop revealed another profit-making activity of this "health care" conglomerate.
Death panels.
Harrop details her late husband's hard struggle with cancer and their even harder struggle with the UnitedHealth death panels that first tried to deny effective treatment (which cost more than UnitedHealth's approved ineffective treatment), then renege on paying for treatment that they had approved (although reluctantly).
I doubt that Harrop's story will come as a surprise here, since I have read many similar stories from fellow Kossians. But I hope her column will get some traction "out there" since so many "worried citizens" seem blissfully unaware that the very things they're so afraid of from "government" are already in place and functioning in our wonderful "free market".
As Harrop notes:
Believe me, "death panels" already exist, and they have nothing to do with the government.
